Description
17–19 July 2026 · Railway Barracks Dance Retreat, Goulburn
Entering the labyrinth of your being
Every Minotaur Project carries a deep personal significance. It offers space for a rich and profound experience — to enter the labyrinth of our being inside vivencial ceremony and the loving container of the group. To allow what is ready to surface in our identity to express. To let fears of any kind no longer define us, but to open into the freedom of our fullness, humanity and uniqueness.
The labyrinth represents our path through life. The Minotaur represents our instinctual, vital energy. This is an invitation to expressing the courage to live this one precious life with fullness and meaning.
“It is where Biodanza finds its ultimate manifestation, allowing you to transcend the barriers and fears that stand in your way to living a truly joyful and incredible life.”
— Rolando Toro Araneda
“The Minotaur Project presents a safe and long-tested methodology to discover one’s own identity. Its proposition is to get in contact with our instincts, with the primordial force that exists in us. It uses an old Greek myth and a current ritual, where the labyrinth represents our walk, permeated by doubts and enigmas. It symbolises our internal path, a search for oneself.”
— Maria Lucia Pessoa

Is this for you?
This is a workshop for those with a regular and committed Biodanza practice. There are a limited number of places due to the individual nature of the work and the importance of a group container that is supportive and available for this depth of experience.
The myth and the symbols
The myth invites us to consider how we live the mix of our human and animal aspects. The Minotaur is often depicted as a monster that must be killed — yet, like Medusa, it was also a victim of fate: born in an unnatural way, shown no love, and locked away.
The Minotaur Project’s proposition is for each person to come to know their own Minotaur — and instead of negating and killing it, to integrate its vital energy and understand its beauty.
To walk through these labyrinths integrating instinct and reason, emotion and sensibility, strength and delicacy, is to configure a lifestyle of harmony and consequence.
Your facilitators
We undertook the Minotaur Project extension training in Brazil and Australia with Daniela Tavares, Helene Levy-Benseft, Sainclair Lemos and Maria Lucia Pessoa during 2016–2017. We have since offered the workshop 5 times in Australia. We’ve both been involved with Biodanza for more than 24 years.
Kate began facilitating in 2002 in South Africa and is a Director of a Biodanza School training facilitators in Australia. Claudio began his Biodanza journey in Brazil in 1993 and his facilitator journey after the 2nd cycle of the Biodanza School in Australia.
It is an honour for us to hold space for each participant ready to step into their personal labyrinth and find their way closer to a life full of rich meaning, fullness and wonder.
The Minotaur Project was developed by Rolando Toro Araneda and Maria Lucia Pessoa, both psychologists. This workshop is run in Australia every two years. This is the 4th edition.
